These sculptures draw on stylised ocean flora, echoing forms found in kelp, coral, and tidal gardens. Carved rhythms create a sense of movement held in place, as if currents have been paused mid-flow. Inspired by the coastal environment, the works suggest underwater habitats shaped by time, tide, and the quiet architecture of the sea

Spirit Fire reflects the imposing nature of the swirling dynamic of fire and how its devastation unlocks the seeds of renewal and regeneration. The direction and 3D form echo the impermanent motion of fire with the positive and the negative spaces speak of the different intensities of flames. I want this sculpture to be eminently relatable and to clearly signpost the Koolinup Emergency Services Centre.

Width: 450mm
Material:
316 Stainless Steel
Dulux Super Enamel Oil Based Paint

The design utilises the central aspect of the Kidsafe WA logo, the ‘I’, which is representational of a mother holding a baby. By utilising this element, the design symbolises the supportive and protective work that Kidsafe WA undertakes on a daily basis for the WA community. In addition, the use of the Kidsafe WA organisational colours adds life and interest to the design, making it into much more than just the symbol itself. Finally, the incorporation of the natural elements (the breeze) into the design in order to create movement will fascinate visitors to the centre, as they watch the colours spin around. The sculpture is positioned on a single 1 m high stainless steel rod/bar.
