“Untitled” Sculpture by the Bay 2024

These sculptures draw on stylised ocean flora, echoing forms found in kelp, coral, and tidal gardens. Carved rhythms create a sense of movement held in place, as if currents have been paused mid-flow. Inspired by the coastal environment, the works suggest underwater habitats shaped by time, tide, and the quiet architecture of the sea

Fire Spirit

Spirit Fire reflects the imposing nature of the swirling dynamic of fire and how its devastation unlocks the seeds of renewal and regeneration. The direction and 3D form echo the impermanent motion of fire with the positive and the negative spaces speak of the different intensities of flames. I want this sculpture to be eminently relatable and to clearly signpost the Koolinup Emergency Services Centre.

Spirit Water

Highlighting the eternal natural cycles found within the Southwest region, the sculptural works create tactile experiences and moments of interaction through expressions of repetition, rhythm, and geometry encouraging exploration and connection. The dynamic visual dialogue created showcases the intricate balance between the forces of these cycles.

This sculpture represents the warmth of the day, brought within, as we watch, mesmerised by the wild flicking dance of the flames casting long shadows and feel the radiant warmth. This is the ambiance of the hotel, a warm and inviting place to feel comfortable.

Kidsafe WA

The design utilises the central aspect of the Kidsafe WA logo, the ‘I’, which is representational of a mother holding a baby. By utilising this element, the design symbolises the supportive and protective work that Kidsafe WA undertakes on a daily basis for the WA community. In addition, the use of the Kidsafe WA organisational colours adds life and interest to the design, making it into much more than just the symbol itself. Finally, the incorporation of the natural elements (the breeze) into the design in order to create movement will fascinate visitors to the centre, as they watch the colours spin around. The sculpture is positioned on a single 1 m high stainless steel rod/bar.
